Q: What services do you provide?
A: We are unique in the Shoals in that we offer two different services:
* Non-Medical In Home Personal Care which includes bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, transferring and ambulating, medication reminders and meal preparation. We also do laundry and light housekeeping in the den, kitchen, dining area, bedroom and bathroom. We provide transportation to appointments or shopping. And, of course, we provide companionship.
* Geriatric Care Management is a professional fee-based service that includes consultation with families who are seeking options and resources for aging loved ones and case management that is especially valuable for families living too far away to be available when needed.

Q: Do you provide care in hospitals, assisted living facilities, rehab centers and nursing homes?
A: Yes, with the consent of the care facility, we provide care wherever you are.

Q: Do you provide services for those who suffer from dementia or Alzheimer’s?
A: Yes, of course. We are experienced in dealing compassionately with their special needs.

Q: What hours are services available and
what does it cost?

A: We provide care from 4 hours to around the clock 24 hours. Hourly fees, scheduling and other details can be discussed by contacting ElderCare at 256-740-8249.

Q: Are you a maid service?
A: No. We are health care workers who also help with light housekeeping, laundry and cooking.

Q: Are your caregivers screened and bonded?
A: Our experienced and compassionate caregivers have all been carefully screened, have passed rigorous criminal background checks, and are bonded. They are covered by liability insurance and worker’s compensation.

Q: What if my regular caregiver cannot come?
A: We will offer you a back-up caregiver.

Q: Do I pay the caregiver directly?
A: No. Caregivers are ElderCare employees and receive a weekly paycheck with all required payroll taxes withheld. You will receive a bill from us at the end of each month.

Q: Who pays for your services?
A: Services are paid for privately by the client or, if covered, by long term care insurance. We will explore any other available options for you. Medicare does not cover the cost of non-medical home care.

Q: Can I deduct the cost of ElderCare’s services on my income tax?
A: The portion of our services that involves personal health care may possibly be used as an itemized deductible medical expense. Please consult with your tax preparer regarding your individual situation.
